Couples therapy on a variety of issues

What makes relationships work well, versus fall apart?

I have been fascinated with relationships for many years, and work with couples going through a variety of challenges. It can be very powerful to have the presence of a neutral third party, helping each of you understand yourselves and your partner better. I help couples improve their skills at talking with each other about issues.

Many therapists say that they work with couples, but how much training do they actually have? I am a Certified Gottman Therapist (the highest level obtainable), a way of counseling with couples that was developed by world-renowned marriage researcher John Gottman and therapist Julie Schwartz Gottman. I have also completed a specialized Gottman training on treating affairs and trauma. For more information about the Gottman Method, see: www.gottman.com.

The Gottman Method involves a thorough assessment process: an initial joint session, individual sessions for each partner, and an online assessment called Gottman Connect. Next, there is a joint session to:

  1. Review what the assessment process showed to be the strengths and challenges of your relationship, and to

  2. Set goals for the things you want to work on, going forward.

Attend a fantastic Gottman workshop for couples! "The Art and Science of Love" two-day workshop is held in various locations around the country and online.
